Ibiza Rocks

People love Ibiza.

Whether you are heading off on an 18 – 30’s trip or you are older and want to hit the more beautiful part of the island, it offers something for everyone. So when a friend of mine suggested I join them for an opening season trip because someone had dropped out, I jumped at the chance.

A long weekend in the sun, lying on the beach and dancing the night away? Yes please.

We boarded the flight on the Thursday evening after work, armed with Travel Insurance and suncream and I was full of excitement. I had heard the hype surrounding Ibiza and I was really excited to see if it was all it was cracked up to be.

And the island didnt fail to disappoint. It was sunny and gorgeous, and the days were spent in an idyllic location, kicking back and relaxing with a drink by the pool or laying on the white sand at the beach, sleeping off the night before.

And the evenings were insane! nightclubs bigger than anywhere I have ever been, and people covered in glow paint and brandishing whistles, ready to dance til dawn.

We were staying in San Antonio, and we had the chance to visit pacha and amnesia; two if the biggest clubs on the island. It was great fun although not something I would be able to do for more than a few days, but the atmosphere was less of the druggy feel that I thought it would be and more of a family orientated, fun place to visit.

Don’t get me wrong, the nightclubs were insane, but I found it to be a lovely place to spend a long weekend in the sun.

Have you ever been? How did you find the experience?

  9. Love the second picture, my fave!:)

  10. i would rather enjoy an amazing, relaxing weekend somewhere you wouldn’t have to fight off hordes of drunk students during the summer (sorry for the extreme generalization) but spending a week on a secluded island in Thailand or the Caribbean sounds like a better idea to me lol

    • thats very general Rob! there are areas of Ibiza (like some of the greek islands of Ayia Napa in Cyprus) that are feared towards the student, but the rest of the island is idyllic and where we stayed. all places have their ups and downs, for example Kensington and Tooting in London! You dont know what you are missing 🙂

  11. I enjoyed eating figs straight off a tree when we rented a scooter and drove around the island. That said, all night dancing is not for me so I will not return to this particular island. But to end on a positive note, we had one of the best meals of our life on Ibiza!

  12. thats a good point 🙂 speaking as one, i do think students are sometimes giving certain places a bad reputation e.g. what i mentioned before, but then again it the ones that go away to experience the culture and lifestyle of different countries that do not get noticed. it might just be the stigma thats attached to the reputation of both countries and tourists alike. would that be a fair comment? 🙂

  13. haha, thanks 🙂 much appreciated

  14. Love your style of writing

  15. My husband was there for a whole week for a bachelor party while I was in Hawaii…he said it was insanely fun and he doesn’t really like clubs so much. He said the music was ah-mazing! We are planning to go back together next year and I’m super excited. Let me know if there are any MUST sees!
